HAVE THE DEMANDS OF THE MARCH ON WASHINGTON BEEN MET AFTER 50 YEARS?

All day today, MSNBC is airing the Commemoration of the 50th Anniversary of the March on Washington.  Hear Bayard Rustin read the 10 demands of the March on Washington 50 years ago. Ask yourself, have these demands been met after 50 years?

STOP AND FRISK

Stop and Frisk: You would think that after the Manhattan Federal Court ruled that Stop and Frisk was unconstitutional, Mayor Bloomberg et al., would humbly concede. However, that was not the case. Instead, Bloomberg et al., have taken on an aggressive campaign to continue to defend New York City's racist policy. For years now individuals like Bloomberg have been unable to give any reasonable explanations for the disproportionate stop and frisk, arrest and sentencing of minority males. However, the one thing they have all been sure of is that, it is irrefutably not racially motivated. Well thank you Mayor Bloomberg, because of the careful stats that your PD took, it is in fact irrefutably racially motivated and unconstitutional. Honestly when you think about it, there is no defending it without defining yourself either as racist, egomaniac, arrogant, or all of the above. The stats speak for themselves. Now, I'm wondering what's up with the true motive behind Blo...

31st CD: Can Rep. Gary Miller Handle 21st Century Challenges?

Rep. Gary Miller and his Conservative Majority in the House of Representatives like to say they are focusing on job creation, but in reality they are focusing on the deficit. They don't want to focus on really fixing the unemployment problem because it creates a way to bludgeon President Obama every Friday when the Unemployment numbers come out. The deficit is a medium term problem that will require some reforms in the way that we spend and consume health care resources. However, the immediate problem is unemployment and I don't think the same Conservative equation, trickle down economics, will be the solution to our unemployment problems or if they are serious in solving this problem. Trickle down in its simplest form is this: Hand money to the wealthy (aka the Job Creators) and the benefits will flow downward to the many. This is done mostly by cutting taxes for the wealthy and providing tax deductions that benefit the percentage of members that make up that income sli...

31st: On Defense, Reforming Ranking Structure Part II

When I last blogged about this subject I just touched upon the major ranks in the ranking structure, but I had total forgotten about the Warrant Office ranks.  That's how worthless these folks are and the graphic above is one of those sad but truism that only military members can understand.  Waste, Fraud, Abuse? We report, you decide.

31st CD: Rep. Gary Miller's 5 Ds of Conducting a Town Hall

Congressman Gary Miller speaking to us at our lunch this afternoon. He told us that he is NOT changing districts. pic.twitter.com/9cLne93qSI — Lincoln Club SBC (@LincolnClubSBC) August 9, 2013 Talking jobs and protecting health care for seniors at the Senior Center in Rancho Cucamonga. #ca31 #4jobs pic.twitter.com/PBTLUWwIgY — Gary G. Miller (@RepGaryMiller) August 8, 2013 When I saw the two tweets above cruise through my Twitter TL, I was like "WTF did the constituents of the 31st Congressional District miss out on a Town Hall?" But as I searched for Rep. Gary Miller's congressional calendar, I did not find a calendar or any announcements. Seeing this, I immediately thought of the movie Dodgeball, which is apt because both sides have been using popular culture to attack each other. I think Rep. Gary Miller is using the Patches O'Houlihan approach and applying it to scheduling Town Halls for the residents of the 31st. These techniques are: Dodge, Dip, Di...

San Bernardino: Is This just another DA Mike Ramos PR Stunt?

San Bernardino is suffering, for anybody who has been paying attention. In the aftermath of the recession and then the bankruptcy, the county leadership which includes representatives Supervisor Josie Gonzalez and James Ramos, have taken a decidedly (I would assert intentional)hands off approach to the county seat that is the city of San Bernardino. But has gross negligence toward our embattled city come to an end? The video above was released by the County's District Attorneys office. It documents the messages that are sent using graffiti tagged on San Bernardino's walls. Personally, I have seen some of the graffiti in the video and know the reputation of some of the local street gangs (you wouldn't be a street savy San Bernardino resident if you didn't) especially West Side Verdugo. But why release a video now? I know the Sheriff's Department Deputy who was recently fired upon would be a clear correlation. But I have to wonder, is this a PR stunt? Would this lea...

Today’s GOP vs. Tomorrow’s GOP on Immigration - The Daily Beast

“And its [Republicans] only future path to the White House will lie in stoking white resentment to fever levels to produce the highest turnout possible, while dividing the country even further—but solidifying the cultural idea of “the party,” which is what really matters most to them.” Today’s GOP vs. Tomorrow’s GOP on Immigration - The Daily Beast

31st CD: Rep. Gary Miller on Housing

Now that the National Association of Realtors (NAR) has purchased the election for Rep. Gary Miller, what is next for the housing market here in the Inland Empire? My feeling is that we should contact NAR since Rep. Gary Miller will vote the way they tell them him to. The city of San Bernardino is being sold wholesale to investors, increasing blight and absentee slumlords from Orange and Los Angeles counties. Over half of the houses in San Bernardino are now renter occupied. How is this a recipe for local control? Rep. Gary Miller could care less, as long as the campaign contribution keep rolling in form the National Association of Realtors.

31st CD: Paul Ryan Budget, Balanced but not Fair

As Ezra Klien points out, the Ryan Budget (which Rep. Gary Miller voted for) is a radical document that balances the budget in 10 years on the backs of middle and working class folks. Mr. Miller's states that he doesn't want to raise taxes on middle income and low income folks. No, he wants to cut the programs that they are currently relying on to help make ends meet, while asking the higher income folks for little sacrifice. Mr. Miller's also states that other budgets raise taxes on middle and low income folks. This is a lie. The Progressive Caucus Budget, the most liberal of all the budgets creates 5 tax brackets on high income folks, while holding middle and low income folks harmless. Mr. Miller is so elite and out of touch that he thinks folks in the North End of Rancho Cucamonga are low income. Hey, Mr. Miller try living in San Bernardino on minimum wage and see what real  poverty feels like.
