San Bernardino is suffering, for anybody who has been paying attention. In the aftermath of the recession and then the bankruptcy, the county leadership which includes representatives Supervisor Josie Gonzalez and James Ramos, have taken a decidedly (I would assert intentional)hands off approach to the county seat that is the city of San Bernardino. But has gross negligence toward our embattled city come to an end?
The video above was released by the County's District Attorneys office. It documents the messages that are sent using graffiti tagged on San Bernardino's walls. Personally, I have seen some of the graffiti in the video and know the reputation of some of the local street gangs (you wouldn't be a street savy San Bernardino resident if you didn't) especially West Side Verdugo. But why release a video now? I know the Sheriff's Department Deputy who was recently fired upon would be a clear correlation. But I have to wonder, is this a PR stunt? Would this lead to real law enforcement action?
Given the history of the county's stance toward our city of San Bernardino and the recent increase of Public Relations efforts by the District Attorney, I doubt any concrete law enforcement action would result. So DA Mike Ramos just kick back, have another fine beverage at a Redlands establishment and watch the landslide election results that will inevitably follow.
