Lois Carson Endorses Danny Tillman for U. S. Congress

Lois Carson Former San Bernardino Valley College Trustee Endorses Danny Tillman for Congress Published:  Saturday, March 1, 2014 4:43 PM PST Ms. Lois Carson It takes courage and a history of independence  to run for elective office, especially if you are African American because you must work so much harder and stand up to the detractors whose first words are “you cannot win”. I know; I have been there. I am sure Danny Tillman went through the discernment required to make such a decision long before declaring his intention; he did not come to the decision lightly or quickly. So, nothing can stop him now—not organized party power, not “doubting Thomas'” nor those seeking favours from the eventual winner. I first met Danny as a teenage student at Valley College and I was a member of the Board of Trustees; he was already exhibiting  attributes of a leader then and now at age 50, he is a proven leader as demonstrated by his front-runner and top vote getter...

Working Together with California Teacher's Association

I recall my first serious interaction with the Teachers Association was when two members of my church had been unjustly fired as teachers after working for San Bernardino City Unified School District for over 20 years. They had been relieved of their duties which included their retirement and all other benefits. I walked door to door inquiring about these teachers with parents and students, there were no negative reports against these teachers. Together, I and other community members addressed the Board and the teachers were reinstated with full benefits and tenure. It was at that time the Teachers Association asked me to run for office, I agreed. I have been endorsed and supported by the teachers association for the past five times I have been elected. I won my first election as the top vote getter and in my first year I found 40 million dollars. Those needed funds allowed the District to build its first High School on the Westside of San Bernardino and every teacher received ...

Raising the Minimum Wage

President Obama just signed an Executive Order to raise the minimum wage for federal contract workers to $10.10. He had to use the Executive Order because House Republicans would not vote to raise the minimum wage for all hardworking Americans. When I am  elected to Congress I will make it a priority to fight for working Americans and raise the minimum wage to ensure a higher standard of living . California, as one of the most progressive states in the Union, has raised the minimum wage to $9.00 an hour effective January 1, 2014 and $10.00 an hour effective January 1, 2016. I will not stop there, I will continue to work with our Unions to ensure the middle class catches up to the economy's cost of living. I will fight to increase the minimum wage to a true living wage. But I cannot do it without your help. I need your support; so pledge to volunteer for my campaign, to donate to the campaign and to VOTE Danny Tillman for Congress District 31 June 3, 2...

31st: Is this Rep. Gary Miller's Idea of Border Security

Whenever Gary Miller gets protestors at his office to push for immigration reform he trots out his Chief of Staff Chris Marsh to reiterate the same Conservative talking points about border security first, immigration reform second, and a path to citizenship never. However, I just recently found out about the Detention Bed Mandate operated by the privately owned prison in Adelanto from local news reports. The detention bed mandate requires a quota of 34,000 undocumented immigrants be kept awaiting deportation AT ALL TIMES. I first heard about it on NPR and was shocked that this is happening in the Inland Empire. The cost to taxpayers is about $2 Billion dollars a year. Make no mistake this is what Rep. Gary Miller is talking about when he talks about border security.

California Report: Solar Projects and Its Impacts in the Inland Empire

My apartment complex where solar panels have been installed. I'm still an advocate of solar projects the energy savings and jobs they will bring. I just never considered its impacts on rural or desert communities. Local energy should stay local and/or if sold some of the proceeds should go to residents who are impacted by these projects. We should do all we can to reduce environmental impact while expanding our energy resources.

What Combat Feels Like

After combat, a Marine would have put the .50 Caliber ammunition INSIDE the LAV (Stryker). Great video! Here is the link.
