31st: Is this Rep. Gary Miller's Idea of Border Security

Whenever Gary Miller gets protestors at his office to push for immigration reform he trots out his Chief of Staff Chris Marsh to reiterate the same Conservative talking points about border security first, immigration reform second, and a path to citizenship never. However, I just recently found out about the Detention Bed Mandate operated by the privately owned prison in Adelanto from local news reports. The detention bed mandate requires a quota of 34,000 undocumented immigrants be kept awaiting deportation AT ALL TIMES. I first heard about it on NPR and was shocked that this is happening in the Inland Empire. The cost to taxpayers is about $2 Billion dollars a year. Make no mistake this is what Rep. Gary Miller is talking about when he talks about border security.

California Report: Solar Projects and Its Impacts in the Inland Empire

My apartment complex where solar panels have been installed. I'm still an advocate of solar projects the energy savings and jobs they will bring. I just never considered its impacts on rural or desert communities. Local energy should stay local and/or if sold some of the proceeds should go to residents who are impacted by these projects. We should do all we can to reduce environmental impact while expanding our energy resources.

After combat, a Marine would have put the .50 Caliber ammunition INSIDE the LAV (Stryker). Great video! Here is the link.

41st CD: Thank You, Mark Takano for Progressive Leadership in the Inland Empire

I think Rep. Takano broke the mold when he was first elected in 2014. He was the first (openly) Progressive candidate to get elected in the Inland Empire. I have to admit I was a bit envious because I was hoping that it would have happened in San Bernardino County first. I think since his election we have seen more Progressive stances on issues coming from the Inland Empire and really challenging the Conservative narrative that permeates the policy making in this region. In addition, his leadership has really put the Inland Empire on the map and makes him a thought leader on Progressive issues. Whether it be gay marriage, immigration reform, defending Social Security he has been on the forefront of these fights to ensure that the silent majority is heard. Here is an oldie but goodie on immigration reform:

ELVIRA HARRIS ANNOUNCES HER RUN FOR STATE ASSEMBLY DISTRICT 40

Elvira Harris to run for State Assembly District 40 After much thought, consideration, trips to Sacramento and meeting with leaders of the California Democratic Party I am proud and honored to announce that I am running for California State Assembly District 40. Being that this will be an open seat, I am up for the challenge of many candidates throwing their hats in the ring. However, the support for my campaign continues to grow solidly in all communities, in particular, law enforcement, teachers, women, minorities and community activist as well as elected officials. With my experience in negotiations and fighting for living wages for workers, I am prepared to continue that fight for families in the 40th District. I will work to ensure that every working family in the 40th Assembly District has decent living wages, brings jobs to our community, raise our level of education and continue my path to ensure our community is safe. I am looking forward to meeting the community o...
