31st CD: Democratic Underperformance Sunk Top Two Chances

CITY DEM VOTE REP VOTE DIFFERENCE Colton (Dem) 2199 1057 1142 Fontana (Dem) 694 730 -36 Grand Terrace (Rep) 768 920 -152 Loma Linda (Rep) 1271 1138 133 Rancho Cucamonga (Rep) 6256 11140 -4884 Redlands (Rep) 5562 6279 -717 Rialto (Dem) 2657 1513 1144 San Bernardino (Dem) 7923 5723 2200 Upland (Rep) 1565 2168 -603 Unincorporated (Mixed) 1507 1596 -89 After the Primary, the folks in Washington D.C., Sacramento, the Media, and whoever else was paying attention to this race were shocked by the results of this election. I was only mildly surprised because I didn’t think that Mr. Dutton would make it through. Early in the Primary, I let my candidate of choice at the time, Renea Wickman, know that I was worried on a purely mathematical basis that Dems would not make the top two. Dems had a 1 in 4 chance of making the ticket versus a 1 in 2 chance of Reps making the ticket. We have seen those results play out and my worst fears realized....

31st CD: Rep. Gary Miller thinks ACA is Caca

Please remember that you are in a Democratic District and watch your mouth. Rep. Gary Miller must think Progressives aren’t paying attention. Rep. Gary Miller must think Progressives are stupid. Rep. Gary Miller must Progressives are useful idiots or some shit. Just check out his statement on the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare. You say that “that health care decisions are best left in the hands of patients and their families”. Please stop repeating this lie. This legislation say nothing about health care decisions between doctors and their families. This is about reducing costs and the means to reducing those costs include expanding coverage for the healthy so people with pre-existing conditions and the sick can get adequate care. You come to the Inland Empire thinking that you can just flash so fucking cash and then we are bought by you? Get the fuck outta here. In addition, you don’t mention how this law will help poor and minority families who usually are the ones who b...

31st CD: Rep. Gary Miller Disses Minorities and Votes AG Eric Holder in Contempt

Rep. Gary Miller fears the National Rifle Association more than he does the minorities in the 31st Congressional District. The black and brown community is adamantly against holding Eric Holder in contempt of Congress. They are also against gun violence, which has surged since Rep. Gary Miller has started running for Congress in the Inland Empire.  I think some gun running is going on right here in my city of San Bernardino. What with 26 deaths so far? Why don’t we hold you in contempt? But I think the American public hold Congress in contempt these days with polling down in the dumps. What ever happened to jobs, jobs, jobs? Wasn’t that the Conservative mantra of 2010? How about Fast and Furiously reducing unemployment? This witch hunt amounts to nothing more than election year politics.

Grassroots vs. Establishment

I thought Progressives were the ones to challenge authority. I guess not by the way we have been bowing to the Establishment in the Democratic Party. Progressives have passion and we have principle, but when the rubber meets the road we cave to our ever compromising selves. We have a ground game that is almost a throwback to the early 20th Century Labor Unions in the way we engage online through New Media. Voter Engagement and finding the true sentiment of the average voter is our bread and butter. But do we listen to the average voter? NO!!! The average voter wants accountability for Wall Street. But do we have it? NO! The pussy-willows of Democratic Leadership cater to Wall Street interests and could give a damn about the working man. The average voter wants a job that pays a living wage. But do we have it? NO! The pussy-willows of Democratic Leadership a living wage will harm big business. The average voter wants safe streets with no gun violence. But do we have it? NO! The p...

The Affordable Care Act

To commemorate the victory of the SCOTUS ruling I present this infograph from the Kaiser Family Foundation and Health and Human Services outlining the benefits of President Obama’s signature legislation. Information is power. Source: finance.yahoo.com via SC on Pinterest

Labor Unions and the 21st Century

When it comes to Union Labor in United States history, I would have to say there has been kind of a love/hate relationship. Unions were despised in early 19th Century as a threat to Big Business, saying that they were threats to interstate commerce because of collective bargaining. These were a weary bunch, always at risk of death. In the mid- 20th Century, Union Labor was the backbone of the American Economy and paved the way for a vibrant middle class. This was the era of Camelot. Late 20th Century saw a turn against Union Labor because of its worst excesses. The modern labor union is a ghost of its former self and still clinging to element of 20th Century thought. They are top-down and very reluctant to relinquish power to the younger generation.  The saddest part is that they are lacking in maintaining member interest in Union affairs. If we are to build a 21st Century Labor Union, those are the two areas that should be addressed immediately.

31st CD: Pete Aguilar Tricks Occupy Redlands?

After months of pushing, prodding, and protesting. Occupy Redlands finally got the city council to vote on their resolution against money in politics and corporate “personhood”. I always thought the vote was brought up as a political ploy  by Pete Aguilar to try and shore up the base. The vote to me revealed how out of touch he was with true grassroots activists. Why not bring it up earlier? Was his shady past catching up with him? Did he think folks on the Left would just vote for anyone with a “D” next to their name? All of these are good questions, but beside the point because it was later revealed in a Huffington Post article , that he was sincere about none of it.

31st CD: ICYM Renea Wickman On Jobs

Vote Renea Wickman June 5th. I enthusiastically support this forward-looking vision for the Inland Empire.

31st CD: The Proxy War-Local Control Hangs in the Balance

Read:   Gary Miller vs. Pete Aguilar: Super PACs Of Realtors, Credit Union Spend Big In California Primary Election Los Angeles and Orange County developers versus Nevada banks. These are two are the so called front runners in the race for the 31st Congressional District of California. No, no the politicians running, they are just surrogates. Proxies in a battle over one thing…houses. One thing we can be sure of, is that if one of these men is elected the local control is lost and the destiny of the Inland Empire will be handed over to outsiders.

31st CD: An elected Rep. Gary Miller ensures a Loss of Local Control

Rep. Gary Miller loves to tell folks what he will do in Washington, D.C. But what about here, specifically in the Inland Empire? Our region can be compared to Detroit and Nevada in terms of unemployment and foreclosure rates. Yet you hear nothing from Washington politicians about what to do about this housing crisis. But Rep. Gary Miller knows what he wants to do. Congressman Gary Miller will let Orange County and Los Angeles developers run amok in cities with high foreclosure rates. My city of San Bernardino will be carved up and given away to the outside interests of the Building Industry. His largest supporters are San Bernardino councilmen John Valdivia and John Roberts   Robert Jenkins. These councilmen could care less about local control, seeing as our police force of San Bernardino is consisted largely of folks from different cities and they were big supporters of Mr. Valdivia and Roberts Jenkins. Blight, Crime, and Poverty will all increase under Mr. Miller’s plan fo...
