AD-40: The Candidate Forum and Analysis

This forum sponsored by the Rancho Cucamonga Chamber of Commerce shows that Russ Warner has what it takes to represent the Inland Empire in the 40th Assembly District.

This debate was mostly about economic growth, climate, and ideas.

Mr. Warner spoke on reducing our dependence on Los Angeles county, by hammering home the theme of local control. He said Ontario can create upwards of 9,000 jobs if Los Angeles County would release its iron grip from the Inland Empire.

In addition, he said a County Chamber of Commerce should be created so that city chambers can reduce the economic poaching the most certainly occurs between cities and focus on fostering regional growth.

Also, he spoke on maintaining a balance economic growth and environmental protection. I would use Rialto as an example here. How much government money has been spent to clean up the percholrate left there? We can have economic growth and environmental protection, they are not mutually exclusive.

Finally, he spoke on the need for bipartisanship and how he would work accross the isle to help foster business growth in the Inland Empire. While I personally feel that we shouldn't bother with a speaking to an irrational, extreme, and increasingly irrelevant party, it was statesman like for Mr. Warner to do so.

Mr. Morrell busted out his charts on the 'triplicate' departments that California has, but offered no real solutions except standard conservative boilerplate of lowering taxes, lower regulation, and the love for Texas. Is Mr. Morrell a Californian, or Texan? Doesn't he know that most of the job creation from Texas was from government and the energy sector? And yet, California still is competitive on growth. With higher taxes and all!

He can recite platitudes on bi-partisanship but the paucity of his record speaks volumes. While the budget transparency is important, Mr. Miller campaigned on bringing jobs to the Inland Empire. In that he has failed.

At least Sen. Dutton wrench out much needed jobs in a deal with Gov. Jerry Brown.

Imagine if the Inland Empire could reach the pinnacle of economic expansion to match the likes of Los Angeles and San Fransisco!

Only Russ Warner understands the economic future of the Inland Empire. Remember that in November.
