It is a historic time to be a Progressive in these United States of America. The 21st Century will be the beginning of a new era. This era will mark a dramatic paradigm shift in the way we govern, the choices we make, and the struggles this shift entails. Candidly, there will be no easy choices going forward. We, as a nation and as individuals, have squandered our savings and are deeply in debt. In addition, we are in a nascent economic recovery due to Keynesian policies implemented under the Obama Administration. These policies, though necessary, require government to step in temporarily to make up for the lack of consumer and business spending adding to our deficit. Finally, we have an opposition party who obstructs to no end while whipping the country into an emotional frenzy for no other reason than they have no good alternative policy proposals to offer the country. In short, our challenges are many and our good options are few but if we stand together as Americans I believe we can pull this through.
Because we want a country that represents our values of Equality, Sacrifice, and the Common Good; Progressives believe in the community and that a more activist government helps solve problems and benefits its citizens. How Progressives fundamentally see government and its role in peoples lives is in opposition of what our Conservative counterparts believe and we understand this.
Progressive fear nothing from government because we, the citizens of the United States, are the government: Of the people, by the people, for the people! It is up to us to retake our government and to shape it into a more democratic institution in order to make it more representative of our interests and values.
